I can affirm that this class hasn’t been as I expected it was going to be. Thanks to this class I have reached one of my main objectives here in the U.S: to learn how the American educational system works and the relationship between politics and education.
Even though I have had some difficulties to reading and understanding course texts, I think that to split the texts between us has been a good idea because we have understood all the contents without spent so much time reading about the same topic.
The most interesting part for me has been the one about the different methods that the U.S government uses in order to improve the educational system (in my opinion “no child left behind” and “race to the top” are ineffective and unfair methods because they don’t provide the same opportunities and resources for every children).
Moreover, after to complete this course I’m really happy because I have seen with my eyes that there are a lot of American people and teachers who understand that a good approach for teaching should be “learned–centered”.
In my opinion, both ideas are quite important, and I am sure that they will be really useful in my future investigations and experiences as a teacher.
To sum up, I have learnt so much about the educational system of the different countries. I have found this class really interesting because they have allowed me not only to express my knowledge about how is the education on my country but also how it works in Europe and here, in the U.S.
…Now I’m completely sure that the myth: “all the Americans are stupid” is a fake!
